Thank you so much for your overwhelming response to the first “Photography Competition” organised by Aapala Paryavaran. Our monthly magazine was established in 2004 and is solely catering to spread Environmental Education to every home.

We are pleased to announce that the last day for submission has been extended to 15th September 2016. The date for judging and exhibition will be intimated to you in due course. 

The entry fee of Rs 600/- includes the annual subscription of Aapala Paryavaran Magazine which includes 12 magazines. The magazine can be a good platform to all of you to showcase your photographic talent or write articles on environmental issues that are close to your heart. Incase you already are a subscriber, you can gift the subscription to your friends or schools in your area.

Aapala Paryavaran’ is one of the renowned bilingual magazine devoted entirely to environmental issues. It provides a platform for like-minded people to raise issues, discuss them and try to find solutions. It gives opportunity to amateur writers and encourages activists to communicate with each other.

This time Aapala Paryavaran is coming up with its first ‘Photography Competition’. This competition will be a platform for amateur photographers as well as the environmentalists. There will be a photography exhibition to display the photographs as well as attractive prizes for the winners.

So hurry up and send your entries.

Pre-Qualification Criteria

  • Images should be clicked in wild habitat within India only.
  • Participants can send 4 entries per category

Categories

  1. Wildlife
  • Birds and Mammals of India.
  • Images captured in Zoo are not eligible.
  • Nesting photographs are not eligible.
  1. Macro –
  • Reptiles, Amphibians, Butterflies, Insects and Molluscs of India.
  1. Environmental issue
  • Habitat destruction, Cruelty in wildlife or similar environmental issues.

Best 300 images will be displayed at the Exhibition.

Prizes

1st  – Rs. 10,000/-

2nd  – Rs.5,000/-

3rd – Rs.2,000/-

All three categories will have same prizes.

 Entry fee

Rs.600/- for all three categories.

This Rs.600/- includes annual subscription of Aapala Paryavaran Magazine and the competition entry fee.

If you are already a subscriber then you can gift this subscription to your friends but the amount you will have to pay.

 Submission of images

  • Submit your photographs by email to (paryavarancompetition@gmail.com)
  • Please submit photographs preferably in digital (Jpeg) format only. Files must be low resolution (file size below 2MB – at 300 DPI) without borders, watermarks or signatures.
  • Camera trap images, HDR and Panorama are not allowed.
  • The last date for submission of all entries is midnight, 30th August 2016 IST.
  • Clearly mention your full name, postal and email address and contact number.
  • Image file names should include ‘photographer’s name_category_subject’. For example ‘Avinashbhagat_wildlife_Shikra.jpeg’ or ‘Avinashbhagat_Environmentalissue_dumping.jpeg’

 Information

  • All photographs must be accompanied by camera and lens used, location, season, short  description of the subject and how the image was taken.
  • Full name of the Photographer, Contact Number, Full Address, Email ID.
  • Payment details – Eg. Cheque number, NEFT Transaction code.
  •  This information should be sent in one word file along with the photographs.

Manipulation

  • There should be limited digital manipulation such as cleaning, sharpening, adjusting levels, curves, colour and contrast is permissible.
  • Adding or removing elements is absolutely not permitted, nor is the combination of two different images (composites) allowed.
  • Once selected you will be asked to send the RAW images.

 Ownership

  • The participant must be the sole author and owner of the copyright for all photos entered. By entering the contest, the entrant certifies that the entries do not infringe on the copyright, trademark or intellectual property rights of any other person or organization.

Copyright and use of images

  • Copyright, even over winning images, will remain with the photographer.
  • Aapala Paryavaran, reserves the right to reproduce entries in its print and online pages with due credit to the photographer.
  • Images may also be used elsewhere in connection with the promotion of the contest, magazine, awareness activities and the exhibitions.
